Royal Worcester's candle extinguishers, or snuffers as they are also commonly known, were first introduced and manufactured in the middle of the 19th Century. It was considered very un-ladylike in Victorian times to blow out the candle, hence the demand for a snuffer to extinguish the flame.
Royal Worcester was the most prolific manufacturer of character snuffers and early examples have become highly collectable because of their novelty and distinctive design. Since their introduction production has been virtually continuous and Royal Worcester's Connoisseur Collection of candle snuffers draws upon the company's heritage, reputation and experience.
